The Grigoryan brothers (who are world famous classical guitarists), join Ben Northey and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in this Spanish-South American program that includes tangos by Astor Piazolla, a concerto by Rodrigo, as well as works by Ginastera, Falla and Gershwin for the final free concert of the summer.
This is the concert I won't be missing out of the three free concerts! The Grigoryan brothers have been favourites of mine since I first heard a recording of Slava Grigoryan playing the Concerto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo when I was back in High school! This is a concert not to miss- especially if you've never heard classical guitar before- you will be blown away!
As with the other concerts- gates open at 4:30pm, concert starts at 7:30pm. And it's FREE! This is a great chance to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in all its glory- without having to pay a cent! Go early to pick up 'tickets' for entry, then come back to secure a place on the lawn with your picnic rug! This event is family friendly and is a great way to spend a summer evening. You can bring a picnic rug/food and drinks as long as you have no glass items, otherwise you can also purchase these at the event.
